I complained a bit in the last review about the case, about the lack of NYPD and, simply, "Need to know" brought me this all the components that were missing in the show. My NYPD's boys were one of the many high points of the episode. It's new times on 12th. Beckett is no longer there, there's a new detective in his place (too disorganized, by the way) and Castle has no longer reason to be on the twelve, helping police in solving crimes. But (FEED THE BIRDS!), Ryan and Esposito left Castle help them to solve the case. The case that ended up for uniting NYPD and the FBI bringing Beckett back to its old (and eternal) home.

NYPD and FBI works in completely opposite way, and likewise the boys were happy by having Beckett back, they were bothered by the strict and objective order they received. However, it is beautiful to see how these four are bonded and how they always will help each other and put the case together even when it’s expressly forbidden.

This episode showed to me that Marlowe would know how to reconcile NYPD and FBI. In a brilliant way he connects the two scenarios and give this episode that makes me press ‘play’ for several times and rewind to a lot of beautiful scenes as a gift to us.
It was obvious that part of Beckett’s strategy and her vision of ‘right or wrong’ would result in troubles for her, however, all of that would lead to this end… and it surprised me. I was expecting her departure in a several ways. Her quitting never crossed my mind. The partnership between McCord and Beckett was short than I expected, and I will miss Lisa in Castle, but I was dying to see Beckett back to NYPD. However another dilemma rises: How Beckett will return to the 12th? There is a new detective in her place – messing the desk around – and things are changed. How she will react and get back to the team?
‘Need to Know’ should had been delivered wrapped in a gift paper to the Castle Fandom. The episode was fantastic and I say with all the words: Castle is back. With all the laughter, dramas, puzzles, romances and ‘bromances’.
PS: Only this time. Where is Lanie?!
